So, it's hard to believe that our girl could be 2 but as of today, she is. We had a party in FL that will be posted later but for now, here are some pics of the party this evening. Cadence LOVES flip flops so we decided to work with it for her party this year. I made the cake to be shaped like a pair of flip flops. Cadence (I think because of her FL party) was convinced that she was having an Elmo party today and told everyone in her class at church that it was Elmo. I was kind of feeling bad that there was no Elmo involved, but she liked her "flop-flops" too so it all worked out in the end.
Here is the table all set and ready to go.
Cadence tasting the cake to make sure it's edible.
**I'm sure you're wondering how I got the cake to look like flip flops. Well, I found this recipe online that gave me the idea. However, not being much for reading recipes and stuff, I had in my head that I could just do the cake myself. So, I just took a pair of flip-flops out of my closet, laid them on a 9 x 13 sheet cake and cut around them. I've never worn the flip flops so I thought it would be fine to put them on a cake. Chris (and everyone else) felt a little differently I think, but played along and ate the cake anyway.**

So fun! Wish I could have been there... I'd have eaten your "flop-flop" cake with no problem! :) Though remember when Mom traced the smurf coloring page onto wax paper and then cut it out and laid it on the cake to make the design... you could have traced your flip-flops then laid the wax paper on the cake to cut it out. Just a thought for next year's birthday extravaganza. Even still, I think flip-flops was a super cute and creative idea! And I'm jealous that Em made it to both parties. :)
Happy birthday shae! Thanks for letting us celebrate with you!
Good Job on the Flip-Flop cake!! It is super cute!! Do you have video of the pool time?? I would love to see a video of those flips down the slide.
I can't believe you did a flip flop cake! I found a site online with that too and debated on it for Eden's first bday! Maybe next year, or the next! Seeing that cake though reminded me of all the ones your mom used to make. My fave: the radio she made for me at my ice cream party! That was one rockin' cake!
