How does your garden grow?

For the record, this post has nothing to do with Cadence but I'm so excited about my garden this year that I just had to share :)  Last year I attempted a garden but it was a complete bust. This year, we've tried again and been more successful!

Here are some of the vegetables for this year.

Cucumbers
This little garden box was here when we moved in but this year - after living here for 3 - we're actually using it.
beans

Tomato Plants
Broccoli - it's not in the box because I planted it a while back by our house.

The broccoli is actually a big part of the reason for this post because it is really big and ready to harvest! So, this weekend Chris and I took our relationship to a whole new level when he harvested my broccoli for me :)  We had to google how to actually go about harvesting it but once we read that one swift cut 5 inches below the head would do it, we were on our way!
Here it is all cut up and ready to be steamed

We're actually eating something that I grew!!!
Everyone SO happy about eating broccoli :)

Woohoo, good for you! Looks yummy, what a fun way to get kids to eat veggies, grow em'! So proud for you, our garden has an issue called too DRY, no rain here in FL.

You crack me up with your "big news on the blog" email. :) And those two smiling kiddos just make me smile.

P.S. Shan DIDN'T go to the store with me... that's why I was posting all the stuff that I lugged home all by myself. :)

Yay Ashleigh...You ROCK with your broccoli! Who knew you could grow broccoli around here. I'm inspired to try broccoli next year now. We've planted a tomato plant, red & yellow bell peppers, and cucumbers. Along with some herbs - hopefully next year we can do more! Your garden looks great!!

Still smiling as I think about your post... and just wanted to tell you that I think it's absolutely okay to have a post that is mostly about what YOU did and not Shae. :) And besides... she's in the pictures... and you grew the broccoli and veggies partially for her, right? ;)

I'm glad that my post makes you smile Liz but from my perspective if the only thing I can come up with to blog about in my own world (outside of children) is a garden, I really don't need my own blog :)

I forgot to say that I also have peppers growing - tho I'm not sure of which color they are...... Chris says if I do good this year he'll expand my garden next year! But we actually have to be able to eat from the garden first.

and Renee, that broccoli tasted so good in it's right off the stalk state that it needed no cheese to taste good. Seriously some of the best broccoli I've ever eaten if I do say so myself :)
